Stainless steel and corrosion-protected solutions by RK Rose+Krieger

Stainless steel components from RK

The right solution for demanding applications

Stainless steel is the material of choice for installations in clean rooms, for filling, packaging and conveying systems in the chemical and food industries, and for all areas which are at risk of corrosion. Over the years, RK Rose+Krieger has established a complete range of stainless steel components that are high temperature and corrosion-resistant and suitable for washdown. This has made RK Rose+Krieger into a specialist supplier for many areas of application.

Many RK Rose+Krieger products were developed in response to specific customer requirements, for example corrosion-resistant solutions. Today, the range of linear actuators, profile technology and tube connectors includes numerous stainless steel components for a very wide range of demands. RK Rose+Krieger also supply solutions for applications where a design offering corrosion protection is sufficient.

EMS stainless steel assembly system as an alternative to welded connections

Sturdy stainless steel railings or frames are typically manufactured by welding together suitable stainless steel tubes, which is an extraordinarily labour-intensive process. The tubes for the corner connections first have to be cut precisely to size, then welded, ground smooth, pickled and finally polished. As a specialist for niche products, RK Rose+Krieger has now developed stainless steel connection elements which employ a special clamping technology that allows frame structures made from square or round tubing in the widely used size 40 to be assembled and disassembled quickly, reliably and without any specialist knowledge. The only tool required is a hex key. There are currently five different EMS elements available, in both round and square tubing versions: corners, tees, cross connectors, 3-arm connectors and base elements with adjustable foot connection. In addition to the tapped hole for the adjustable foot, the EMS base elements have a second hole to allow cleaning fluids to drain off.

Stainless steel tube connectors

The range of stainless steel products also includes tube connection elements. Just like the stainless steel assembly system, these Robust Clamps can be assembled in just a few simple steps. They hold the individual components together powerfully and permanently, yet are easy to disconnect again. The stainless steel connectors are specially engineered for dynamic loads, making them ideal for use in devices or systems with constantly alternating loads, such as presses. External hex screws make for easy installation with standard tools, while a silicone cover protects the threads against soiling and damage. Smooth contour transitions optimise the resilience in case of torsional stresses. In combination with the blind hole design, they also minimise any build-up of dirt, and make for easier cleaning. The wall thickness is optimised for minimum weight. The following types are currently available in 12 mm to 40 mm sizes: flange clamps (FK), corner clamps (W), base clamps (FS) and cross clamps (K).

E-II stainless-steel, single-tube linear actuators

The EMS elements are not the only stainless steel products in the Minden company's range. It also includes linear actuators made of pure stainless steel. The washdown-capable E-II stainless steel linear units, which are supplied in the widely used sizes 30 and 40, are particularly popular. These actuators feature food-safe, FDA-compliant lubricants, and are suitable for an extended temperature range of -30°C to +150°C. They are used for adjusting widths, heights and lengths in packaging machines in the food industry, for example. In the version designed for high temperatures up to 150°C, these stainless-steel actuators are used for adjustment tasks in the production, processing and coating of glass, amongst other applications. All E-II stainless-steel units feature ball bearings for the spindle mounting and a carriage with slide bushing, as standard. They are available with a right-hand or left-hand thread and also with right-hand and left-hand threads. The version with right-hand and left-hand threads, in which the carriages move towards each other, is particularly suitable for format adjustments. In the 40 mm size, the linear actuators are compatible with the Robust Clamp tube connectors.

Linearachse MonoLine Z80 korrosionsgeschützt

The range of RK MonoLine belt-driven linear actuators now includes the RK MonoLine Z in the widely used size 80, with IP20 protection rating and full corrosion protection. For this linear actuator, RK Rose+Krieger replaced all parts that are made of steel in the standard version, with stainless steel components. Corrosion-resistant material is also used for the toothed belt, which is made of polyurethane with stainless steel cord in the corrosion-protected actuator version. In addition, for vertical use of the actuator, prefabricated drain holes are provided in the pulley box, which can be opened by the customer as and when required to drain off any condensation. Typical applications of the corrosion-protected linear actuator are automated extraction systems for injection moulding and compression moulding machines, where water mist, condensation and downstream dripping water are to be expected.

Multilift II Clean (lifting columns) for clean rooms

All Multilift II lifting columns by RK Rose+Krieger enable simple height adjustment of assembly workstations, media technology, conveyor belts or workbenches in control rooms, making it easy to accommodate height differences of employees. They are the ideal drive elements if you are looking for stable guidance and an attractive design in addition to motorised adjustment. The Multilift II Clean version was designed specifically for use in clean rooms. A special cover on the lifting column's brushed DC motor minimises the ejection of particles. To verify its suitability for use in clean rooms, the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA carried out a particle emissions test as per DIN EN ISO 14644-1 and certified the lifting column for use in clean rooms up to the globally valid class 4.

ITAS tube connectors for industrial stairs, working platforms and railings in clean rooms

The ITAS industrial stairs and working platform system by RK Rose+Krieger provides a technically reliable solution for railings, fences, pedestals, stairs, bridging steps and working platforms without any welding – including for clean rooms. The systems created can be dismantled or varied at any time. The wide range of ITAS construction elements includes tubes and numerous tube connector versions plus panels, step profiles, side plates and the corresponding holders and rails. The standard material used is corrosion-resistant and easy-to-clean aluminium. The tread of the step profile, which is also suitable for implementing platform surfaces, complies with DIN EN ISO 14122-3 and accident prevention regulation (UVV) DIN 24530. The flexible system is also available for clean room use, for which the standard product only required minor modification. The system can be dismantled or varied at any time. This is also advantageous for clean room use, as the elements can be introduced either individually or as a module, and then assembled once they are in the clean room, without leaving behind any residue. Given that the ITAS elements are made of aluminium, they are comparatively lightweight and can be assembled without the need for additional lifting gear – another clear advantage for use in clean rooms, as the lifting gear is also subject to special requirements. The ITAS constructions also have a high-quality appearance, suitable for the clean room.

Aluminium BLOCAN profile systems for the chemical industry

Optimal connection options (slots on all sides) make the aluminium BLOCAN construction profiles a genuine alternative to conventional welded or screwed connections. The wide variety of aluminium profiles and an extensive range of accessories together form the basis for all kinds of constructions, such as racks, machine frames, workbenches, shelving systems, handling and safety devices. Being made of aluminium, they can also be used in the chemical industry. The connection elements for the profile systems are manufactured from galvanised steel. The flange brackets are also available in stainless steel for special demands.
