The special product development process secured the presentation of the innovation award for the Minden-based specialist in automation technology. Clear workflows and structures plus early involvement of the customer characterise the process.

Whether the idea for a new product in a custom project originates with the customer or a Sales or Product Management employee, it goes through the same product development process every time at RK Rose+Krieger. For the successful provider of profile, linear and tube connection technology, the process is an exercise in active project management. Thus, at the start of a project and when entering a new project phase, Sales Manager, Technical Director and Management reassess the profitability, competitive situation and technical feasibility of the product.

For RK Managing Director Hartmut Hoffmann, the fact that the firm is consistently making the Top 100 is an important recognition of business achievement: "Being awarded a place in the Top 100 once could have been a fluke, but three times in a row confirms that we are doing something right."

Thus, for example, they are shown prototypes at relevant trade fairs and their suggestions taken into consideration in the further development process. Consequently, it can be the case that a potential new product is abandoned early on or is made ready for market earlier than originally planned.

It is new developments like the anti-vibration spindle support for long spindle-driven linear units which have made RK Rose+Krieger a recognised supplier of high-quality innovative linear technology today. In the field of connecting technology, too, which has performed particularly well in the first four months of this financial year, the company's innovative stainless steel clamping elements, among others, did especially well. These are also ideal for the field of food-related production. Current innovations in this division include special system adapters, which enhance flexibility and compatibility between different tube connection systems.

Potential customers are also brought into the development process at an early stage

The "Top 100" is organised by compamedia GmbH from Überlingen. Prof. Dr Nikolaus Franke, Chair of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, is responsible for academic coordination of the project. He and his team assessed the innovation management of a total of 245 medium-sized companies. Journalist and TV presenter, Ranga Yogeshwar, is the mentor of this project. This Germany-wide comparison of companies is supported, amongst others, by the BVMW (German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses), the Fraunhofer Institution for the Promotion of Applied Research and the VDE (Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies). The Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper acts as the media partner.
