Tasks and Activities
Draftsmen/draftswomen carry out their work in the area of design. Using sketches, draft versions and designs provided by designers, they create production documents and drawings in accordance with international standards using a CAD (Computer Aided Design) workstation and largely on an independent basis.
Training Requirements
For you to be trained as a draftsman/draftswoman at RK Rose+Krieger, we require you to have obtained a “Fachoberschulreife” [school leaving certificate required for admission to technical college].
Length of Training
The training course takes 3.5 years and can, under certain circumstances, be shortened by half a year.
Course Content
The training plan is binding and governs the subjects to be taught by industrial companies during the training course. The subjects include:
- Technology
- Work scheduling
- Technical mathematics
- Economics and social studies
Prospects
- Further training to become a foreman specialising in metalwork or a technician
- Subject-related further training
- University-level studies
The trainee’s knowledge and skills will be tested by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry after 1.5 years in an intermediate examination, and in a final examination at the end of the training course. Both examinations contain a theoretical and practical part.
Training Centres
The vocational training will be provided in a dual form, i.e. theoretical knowledge will be taught at the vocational college (usually at the Leo-Sympher Vocational College in Minden), practical skills will be taught in the company.
